Overview

Measurement System Analysis (MSA) is a structured method to understand the measurement
uncertainties using various statistical methods. Measurement variations are measured and quantified
through MSA and suitable actions can be initiated to reduce the measurement variation. In this
course, MSA concepts are explained step by step through examples and case studies. The topics in
this program will be explained with PPTs, relevant videos, animations and applications examples.

  • Types of Data
  • Basic Statistics
  • Overview and importance of MSA
  • Sources of measurement variation (Repeatability, Reproducibility, Linearity, Bias)
  • MSA for continuous variable data – Gage R&R – using Minitab (ANOVA, NDC, etc.)
  • MSA for Attribute data – Kappa, Miss rate, False alarm rate, Kendall coefficient
  • Practical exercise for Gage R&R and Attribute MSA – Practical demonstration & calculations

Outcomes

At the end of the course the learner will
  • Have an overview of Measurement system analysis
  • Be able to determine Gage R&R for continuous variable data
  • Be able to perform MSA for attribute data
  • Be able to improve the measurement systems at their respective workplace
