Overview

Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) is a structured methodology used to develop new products, especially in the automotive industry. The purpose of this methodology is to make a product quality plan which will support the development of a product or service that will satisfy the customer. APQP facilitates communication with everyone involved in the product development process to assure that all steps are completed in an appropriate manner on time. This would result in providing a quality product to the customer on time at the lowest cost. In this course, the APQP methodology is explained step by step with PPTs, videos, and industry examples. Highly interactive sessions planned through instructor-led training.

Eligibility

  • Working professionals engaged in new product development, quality, and manufacturing with a minimum of 1 year of experience
  • Pre-requisites: Familiar with engineering drawings, materials, manufacturing processes, and metrology

Phase 1: Planning & Defining the Program
  • Understanding the customer requirements & setting the design goals and preparing the time plan for the new product design & development
  • Inputs & outputs of Phase 1 – Gate review with the management
Phase 2: Product Design & Development
  • Overview of DFMEA, DFMA, Design Review, and Design Verification
Phase 3: Process Design and Development
  • PFD, PFMEA, Control Plan, Packaging Specifications, Floor Plan Layout, SOP, etc.
Phase 4: Product and Process Validation
  • Significant Production Run, MSA Results, Process Capability Studies, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Production Validation Testing, and Packaging Evaluation
  • Quality Planning Sign-off & Gateway Approval
Phase 5: Feedback, Assessment, and Corrective Action
  • Reduced variation, improved customer satisfaction, improved delivery performance
  • Effective use of lessons learned/best practices
  • Monitoring the performance of the product at the customer end & internally
