Overview

The Soldering Techniques program is aimed at equipping participants to acquire knowledge and skill on soldering procedures, soldering material selection, and inspection criteria to meet expectations from the industry. The topics in the theory sessions will be explained with PPTs, relevant videos, and hands-on practicals in PCB soldering, wire soldering, and product soldering.

Course Content

Theory (4 Hours)
  • Soldering Introduction
  • Equipments used in soldering and safe handling
  • Standard specifications in : Flux, Solder Lead, Solder Iron & Heat controlling
  • Soldering Steps and Procedures
  • Critical Factors in Soldering Process
  • Various Defects in soldering Joints & their causes
  • Characteristics of Perfect Soldering Joints
  • Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies of Soldering acceptance criteria based on standards
Practical (12 Hours)
  • Wire soldering Practice – Tinning, looping and Joining – 8 Hrs
  • PCB Soldering – Single standard wire & component soldering in PCB tabs – 4 Hrs
  • Customer Product soldering Practice – 2 Hrs

Outcomes

At the end of the course, the participant will be able to:
  • Understand the safety-critical parameters in the soldering workstation
  • Understand soldering steps, procedures, and acceptance criteria
  • Be able to do wire/component soldering in PCBs (SMT & THT)
  • Understand the quality standard as per IPC

Certification Criteria

  • Attendance: 100%
  • Assignment completion: 100%
  • Post-test assessment score: 70% minimum
  • Duration: 2 Days | 16 Hours (4 Hours Theory + 12 Hours Hands-on Practical Sessions)
  • Mode: Face-to-Face
  • The programs will be certified by TVSTS.
