Overview

The Value Analysis & Value Engineering (VA & VE) training course will acquaint the participants with basic to intermediate methodology of VA & VE and its practical approach for implementation.

The focus is on improving value in the product and thereby also reducing costs, improving function by way of teamwork-based product evaluation and analysis.

Day 1:
  • Introduction to value Engineering – Concepts, principle, types of values
  • Function Analysis - Function definition, types of functions, etc..
  • The standard 6-phase job plan:
  • Information Phase – Data collection and problem understanding
  • Function Analysis Phase – Functional modelling and evaluation
  • Creative Phase – Idea generation (brainstorming)
  • Evaluation Phase – Screening and assessing ideas
  • Development Phase – Cost analysis, feasibility, ROI
  • Presentation Phase – Preparing and presenting recommendations
  • VE tools & techniques – Cost worth analysis & Overview of TRIZ principle

Value Analysis:

Day 2:
  • Introduction to value analysis
  • Function analysis – FAST diagram
  • Value analysis methodology – 6steps
  • Overview of DFMA concept
  • Cost analysis – Cost drivers
  • Life Cycle cost – considering all factors
  • Tools & techniques – SCAMPER Technique, Product teardown, benchmarking, etc.

Outcomes

At the End of the Course the Participants will understand and learn
  • The characteristics of Value Engineering along with related terminology.
  • Recognize how to consolidate Value Engineering proposals and value analysis concept.
  • The techniques of value analysis and principles of Life Cycle Cost Analysis principles as applied to VE.
